Through-the-mail successes

Below is the list of player’s autographs I have received through the mail so far, what the card is autographed in, and the card’s manufacturer and year. If the card/item has anything else written on it I will indicate it by writing next to the player’s name in quotation marks. If any of the items interest you, and you would like to have it, then you can email me and we might be able to work out a deal. Some of the players I have more then one autograph from, but I listed all of them. There is also the player (if he is still active)’s team website next to the description of the autograph (for the team that he was on when I obtained the autograph, although some have been updated for their current teams). At the end of most descriptions now there will also be how long it took the player to sign the card.

Buck O’Neil, thin blue sharpie, magazine clipping (see ahead for full story). 7 Days; Here’s the story about the magazine clipping. I sent an email into Beckett Baseball around September of 2004. The email notified them of Buck O’Neil’s 2004 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites, and that it had a major error on the back (they listed that he was born 25 years earlier then he actually was). They published a small article about the error in their 20^th Anniversary Issue (with Barry Bonds on the cover), on page #47. I was mentioned in the bottom paragraph of the article. Anyways, I thought it would be cool if Buck O’Neil knew about it, so I scanned the article and sent him a scan, also telling him that he could keep it. I got the scan back autographed, and the rest is history! (Note: the scan is on regular 8.5”x11,” white, printing paper.)

**I sent Bo 2 baseball cards, two index cards, a letter with questions and a SASE, and he sent me back the cards, unsigned, the letter not written on, and the SASE, not used, in a big envelope that he provided postage for. He also sent a form letter that he sends to everyone who sends him a letter. Great success!

***I sent Mr. Selig my second letter with questions and requesting an autographed photo. I did not provide postage. He sent back the photo listed above in a case, provided his own postage and answered my questions (see “Interviews”).

****I sent Mr. Millwood two cards for him to signed along with a SASE and the typical current player letter. I received back my two cards, unsigned, in a Phillies envelope with this card and a form letter from Kevin stating its authenticity and thanking me for being a friend.
